Q&A On Draper Labs
(2009-10-23)
(WUSF) - The ribbon cuttings are considered what they call in the business world "soft openings," since both facilities are already open. Draper Lab started operating out of space at USF in Tampa earlier this year. About 100 people are expected to work there within seven years. Its close proximity to the Moffitt Cancer Center was on purpose, since the unit is focusing on designing tiny high-tech drug-delivery devices.

And it's building in St. Petersburg, is dubbed the "Multi Chip Module Center," where it will design and produce"MEMS" - microelectromechanical systems.

WUSF's Steve Newborn talks with Len Pollizotto, who is responsible for strategic business development at Draper's headquarters in Cambridge, Mass.
