"Tea Parties" Target Heath Care
(2009-07-02)
Protestors outside U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor's office
(WUSF) - A handful of people showed up outside Congresswoman Kathy Castor's office, waving placards and shouting at the passing cars. It wasn't about how large the crowd was, but their message, says Karen Jaroch (jar-roche) of Tampa.

"My sign says, If America socializes medicine, where will the Canadians go?"

She says government involvement is shooting up the price of health care, which should be left to the free market.

"The government shouldn't be involved in our health care system," says Jaroch. "It should be between the doctor and the patient."

Castor spokeswoman Ellen Gedalius says affordable health care is vital to Florida's families.

"With a public option, if you are happy with your health insurance, you can keep it," she says. "Your current coverage will be protected."

She says the Obama Administration's plans will reduce costs over time for most families.
