Long Track Ahead for Light Rail TAMPA (WUSF) - he trip to cities like Charlotte and Dallas revealed that their plans to ease traffic gridlock with light rail are just starting to pay off. But members of the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority who went on the trip say they learned a few things. One is that even if local voters approve a starter light rail line in Hillsborough County - possibly in 2010 - it could take another eight to ten years before the first tracks are laid.
