A staged reading of the Laramie Project play will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 12 at the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church (ORUUC). Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door. ORUUC is located at 1500 Oak Ridge Turnpike, (traffic light 11) in Oak Ridge.
Described as gripping and heart wrenching, the play tells the story of the aftermath of the 1998 brutal murder of gay college student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. The play will be read by eight actors, most of whom will be ORUUC members. Please be advised this production contains some very strong language.
The reading coincides with the 15th year anniversary of Shepard’s death and is being done in honor of National Coming-Out Day, observed annually by members of the LGBT community and allies on October 11.
For more information on the reading of the Laramie Project call the ORUUC office at (865) 483-6761.
