Swine Flu Deaths Continue To Climb in KY
(2009-11-13)
(wuky) - The latest swine flu deaths occurred in Floyd, Boone, Nelson and Pendleton counties and involved two men in their 20's and 40's, a school-aged child and female in her 40's. Meanwhile, swine flu vaccine continues arriving in Kentucky. State Epidemiologist Dr. Kraig Humbaugh says the state has been allocated more than 575-thousand doses of vaccine. "Of those doses, 513-thousand have been ordered. That's about 89-percent of the total. And over 474-thousand had already been shipped to Kentucky. That's 82 percent."

Humbaugh says the current allotment is enough to cover about 13-percent of the state's population. Swine flu continues to be the dominant strain of flu in Kentucky, accounting for 99-percent of current flu cases.
