Senate Committee Approves Instant Racing Bill
(2010-03-12)
(wuky) - A bill moving in the Kentucky Senate would let horse tracks install electronic machines that allow instant wagers on thousands of previously run horse races. A small percentage of the money generated by the machines would flow to the state's ailing horse industry.

The instant racing bill, sponsored by Georgetown Sen. Damon Thayer, passed the State and Local Government Committee, 11-1. The lone opponent was Bowling Green Sen. Mike Reynolds, who opposes expanded gambling.
