Alabama has a new federal judge for its Northern District. Birmingham attorney Abdul Kallon (Kahl-ON) received final confirmation from the US Senate over the weekend. The Senate gave Kallon's nomination unanimous consent on Saturday night, bringing a fast end to Kallon's fast track through the confirmation process. He was nominated by President Obama and his confirmation aided by support from Senator Jeff Sessions, who says Kallon 'has the gifts and graces to be a good judge.' The 40-year-old is currently a partner at Bradley Arant Boult and Cummings law firm in Birmingham, where he specialized in labor and employment law. He replaces retiring Judge U-W Clemon, for whom Kallon worked as a clerk after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania.© Copyright 2012, APR - Alabama Public Radio
