Brain Cancer Research in Alabama
(2008-09-04)
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - The science journal Nature issued its current edition Thursday afternoon (9/4) via the Internet.

In it, researchers explain some recent discoveries about a type of brain cancer called glioblastoma (GLEE-oh-blast-OH-muh).

It is one of the most common and aggressive types of brain tumors, and a consortium has been studying the cancer to determine ways to better diagnose and treat it.

Alabama Public Radio's Butler Cain recently spoke with Doctors Devin Absher and Rick Myers of the HudsonAlpha Institute in Huntsville and Stanford University.

They are participating in the project, and Rick Myers says researchers are exploring the differences between cancerous cells and healthy ones.
