New ACCESS Schools' Administrators Get Training
(2008-09-03)
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - Dozens of high school leaders are being trained on equipment that gives students the chance to take classes that haven't been available before.

Gov. Bob Riley spoke with administrators from 85 high schools from around the state Wednesday about ACCESS Distance Learning and the technology that makes the program possible.

The schools are receiving grants of $85,000 to fund the distance learning classrooms that will be outfitted with interactive video conferencing technology and other equipment.

The group gathered in downtown Montgomery where they were briefed about the program and got a chance to see the technology at work.

There are 181 schools with ACCESS now and all of the state's 371 high schools will have the program when school starts in August 2009.
