Edouard Not Considered a Threat to Dauphin Island
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - Dauphin Island officials doubt Tropical Storm Edouard will be much of a threat to the island off the Alabama coast.

But they piled up sand Monday to protect the new west end beach, a $1.7 million project completed in June. Hurricane Dolly flooded the west end beach on July 23 and shut it down for two days.

Beach officials don't expect Edouard's impact will be bad as it moves into Texas and Louisiana.

Joyce Allen directed Monday's beach work and said the worst case scenario is Edouard will push sand back onto the south side of the island.
