Congressional Candidates Help Fund Their Own Campaigns
Campaign finance reports show state Rep. Jay Love of Montgomery has raised about $1 million, with $650,000 of that coming from personal loans to his campaign.
State Sen. Harri Anne Smith of Slocomb has raised about $878,000, with nearly $374,000 coming from personal loans.
The two meet in a runoff Tuesday to determine who will face the Democratic nominee, Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright, in the general election on Nov. 4.
