88% of Alabama Still Under Drought
Specialists say the state is still in much better shape than it was this time a year ago when 100 percent of Alabama was under some stage of drought.
As of today (Thursday), 88 percent of the state remain under some form of drought. That is a 5 percent increase from last week's report.
The worse effects are the D-2 severe drought conditions that cover approximately 30 percent of Alabama.
Meteorologists are forecasting rains in the state in the next few days, they hope will lessen the dry conditions.
