Judge: Two-Year College System Violated State Firing Law
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - An administrative law judge in the Attorney General's office has ruled that the 2-year-college system violated the Fair Dismissal Act in a president's firing this year.

Southern Union State Community College president Susan Salatto was fired in January after an internal investigation found numerous problems at the school.

She had worked in the system for 33 years and served as Southern Union's president for 1 1/2 years.

PostSecondary officials maintained that the Fair Dismissal Act did not apply to Salatto because she was a president and served at the pleasure of the chancellor.

Judge Walter Turner rescinded the firing and ruled that Salatto was entitled to a notice and hearing prior to her termination.
