Legislative Panel To Keep Pushing For State Energy Policy
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - The Alabama Legislature passed only two measures in a 13-bill package aimed at helping the state establish a policy for conserving energy.

But members of a legislative committee studying the issue say they are not going to give up and will keep pushing for legislation to encourage state agencies and Alabama residents to conserve energy.

The Joint Legislative Committee on Energy Policy voted Tuesday to ask Gov. Bob Riley to include the energy bills in his priorities when he calls the Legislature into special session to pass an education budget.

The energy bills and the education budget died when the 2008 regular session ended Monday night.
