Ala. Senior Appellate Court Judge Considers Retirement
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - Alabama's longest serving appellate court judge, H.W. ``Bucky'' McMillan, is considering retiring from the state Court of Criminal Appeals rather than seeking another term.

McMillan says there are several good reasons for him not to run again this year, and a few good reasons to run. The Republican judge says he will make up his mind quickly because Friday is the qualifying deadline for this year's judicial elections.

McMillan has served on the Court of Criminal Appeals for 24 years.

No Democrat had signed up to run against McMillan as of today. But Democratic Party Executive Director Jim Spearman said he had received calls from people expressing interest if McMillan should decide to retire.
