Alabama Senate Debates PAC Bill, but Can't Reach Agreement
(2008-02-22)
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - The Alabama Senate has spent a second day Thursday debating legislation to curb the transfer of money between political action committees, but it couldn't come to an agreement.

The PAC bill will be up for debate again when the Senate returns on Tuesday.

The bill would ban the transfer of money between political action committees, but it would no longer define political parties or legislative caucuses as PACs. The Senate spent today debating an amendment proposed by state Senator Roger Bedford. It would prevent the governor and other state constitutional officers from raising campaign money for other candidates, PACs or political parties.
