Alabam Senator Hopes Eighth Times The Charm For Death Penalty Moratorium
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - State Senator Hank Sanders of Selma has introduced a death penalty moratorium bill for seven years without success. But he says he's going to try again in the legislative session starting next week.

Sanders and supporters of his bill held a news conference today in Montgomery.

Sanders and Judy Cumbee of the Alabama New South Coalition say concern is growing in Alabama about how the death penalty is carried out and support is growing for a moratorium.

Sanders' bill calls for a three-year moratorium while the state makes changes in how it carries out executions.
