Arson Ruled as Cause of Fire at Chilton County Church MONTGOMERY (APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - The state Fire Marshal's Office says the fire at Maples Springs Baptist Church was arson. The church burned the ground on December 29th.

Investigators have not determined if the blaze is related to a fire at Providence Number 1 Baptist Church that was deliberately set a week later in north Chilton County. Authorities described the Providence fire as an apparent arson and burglary.

No arrests have been made.
