Wallace Considering Run for PSC President
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - George Wallace, Junior is considering a political comeback. The only son of Governors George and Lurleen Wallace tells The Associated Press he is getting lots of encouragement to run for president of the Public Service Commission.

That's because Republican incumbent Jim Sullivan announced last week he won't seek another term this year.

The 56-year-old Wallace spent eight years on the utility regulatory board before making an unsuccessful race for lieutenant governor. He says he had not considered running until Sullivan made his announcement and the calls started.

So far, the only announced candidate for PSC president is former Democratic Lt. Gov. Lucy Baxley. The 70-year-old Baxley is attempting a political comeback of her own after losing the general election for governor in 2006 and suffering a stroke.
