Winter Weather Advisory Expected for Some Counties
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - A winter weather advisory will go into effect Wednesday evening for three counties in northeast Alabama and a portion of southern middle Tennessee.

The advisory covers a period from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 4 a.m. Thursday for areas in higher elevations above 1500 feet in Madison, Jackson and DeKalb counties and Franklin County, Tennessee.

The National Weather Service office in Huntsville says a mixture of light sleet and snow could start falling early this evening. The wintry precipitation will change to light freezing rain sometime after 9 p.m.

Meteorologists says it shouldn't be a crippling ice storm, but travel problems are possible. In valley areas, temperatures are forecast to remain above the freezing mark and no accumulations are expected.
