Riley Wants Better Air Service for Montgomery
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - Airline officials assured Governor Bob Riley Thursday that they will improve service to Montgomery and make sure fewer flights are late.

Riley sought the meeting because he was concerned that delayed and canceled flights were hurting Alabama's economic development efforts.

Don Bornhorst, senior vice president of Delta Connection, joined Brad Holt, chief executive of Atlantic Southeast Airlines, in the meeting with Riley. ASA is one of the regional carriers that are part of Delta Connection, and it provides service between Montgomery and Atlanta.

The airline executives acknowledged problems with luggage and departures in the past, but said improved maintenance in Atlanta, new leadership at ASA, and better communication with Delta is helping.

Riley said he plans to meet with the airline executives in 90 days to review what additional progress has been made.
