Stacy Infant Released From Hospital
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - The 3-year-old daughter of former University of Alabama football star Siran Stacy was released from the hospital Saturday, nearly a week after being in a wreck that killed Stacy's wife and four of his children.

The Dothan Eagle reported that Shelly Stacy, who had been in serious condition earlier in the week, was released from Children's Hospital in Birmingham and was to be reunited with her father Saturday.

Siran Stacy was in stable condition, but a date has not yet been set for his release from Flowers Hospital, his brother Rodrick Stacy said.

"Mentally he's still back and forwards there's days when we think he's fine and then there's days where this gets the best of him. But he is making progress and with God's help he is healing," Rodrick Stacy said. "He knows everyone, and the outpour and phone calls from all over the country are really a blessing to him."

Siran Stacy's wife, Ellen, 36, son Bronson, 10, and daughters Lequisa, 18, Sydney, 8, and Ellie, 2, were all killed near the intersection of U.S. 84 and Highway 123 on Monday when their van was struck by a pickup truck traveling west in the eastbound lane of U.S. 84.

The truck was driven by 29-year-old Adam Wayman, who died early Tuesday morning from injuries sustained in the crash.

"We thank God for the tremendous support. We just want to ask that everyone please be mindful that he needs rest and he's recovering. This is taking a lot out of each one of us," Rodrick Stacy said, adding that the family's Thanksgiving had been the worst emotionally since the family lost his grandmother six years ago.

"But we've always been a close family and we praise God for that. We've come to the conclusion that weve got to get through this and with God's help were doing it," he said.
