Three Confirmed Tornadoes From Monday's Storms
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - Survey crews confirmed 3 tornadoes touched down Monday night and early yesterday (Tuesday) in Hale, Lowndes and Bibb counties.

All the twisters were classified as E-F-One.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham the worst storm damage occurred in Hale County where approximately 20 homes were damaged 11 severely. The tornado also tore through an airplane hangar. There were no serious injuries.

In Lowndes County, a twister landed northeast of Hayneville and damaged the Mount Olive Baptist Church. Three homes near Brent in Bibb County had minor damage.

Another EF1 tornado touched down late Monday afternoon in south Mobile County. Several homes and structures were damage near Irvington. No one was hurt.

According to weather experts, an E-F-One tornado can generate wind speeds of between 86 to 110 miles per hour.

Forecasters say a cold front is moving through the state today and no severe weather is expected for the remainder of the week.
