Hyundai Cutting Production
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - The Hyundai manufacturing plant in Montgomery is cutting production for an additional seven days this year. The Korean automaker had already informed it 3,300 employees of days off for three consecutive Fridays this month, but now says more shutdown could occur in November and December. Hyundai executives said the decision was based on slow sales of the Sonata sedan.

John Kalson, the vice president of production, tells the Montgomery Advertiser that the production cuts are temporary, although he said the company remains the subject of market forces.

It not immediately known if the cutbacks will have an impact on some of Hyundai's suppliers.

The automaker's only U.S. factory is located in Montgomery.
