Fire Rages in Wilderness Area
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - Dozens of firefighters from four states are battling a stubborn wildfire in the Cheaha Wilderness that erupted sometime over the weekend.

The oppressive heat and dry weather hasn't helped matters.

The U-S Forest Servcie said almost 400 acres have burned in an area that features steep, rocky terrain in the Talladega National Forest.

A helicopter dropped water and firefighters used bulldozers to cut fire lines.

The wildfire is believed to have started following a lightning strike and may burned a day before it was spotted.

The Forest Service said fire crews from Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Texas are working to contain the blaze. There have been no injuries.
