Sheriff Worried About Gang Activity
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - DeKalb County authorities are concerned about a spike in Hispanic gang activity in the northeast Alabama county. Sheriff Jimmy Harris said he has seen evidence of gang members claiming territory.

The sheriff said those claims are made as graffiti or markings. Some of the signs discovered included ''Sureno 13,'' ''Southside,'' ''Folk Nation'' and ''MS 13.''

Harris said these particular gangs are often violent, but so far there hasn't been a problem.

Harris has turned to the public for assistance. He urges citizen to call his office if they see any gang markings or graffiti.
