Most Ala. Congressmen are Millionaires
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - Financial disclosures released this week in Washington show that most Alabama members of Congress are millionaires.

Topping the Alabama list is Republican Senator Richard Shelby Tuscaloosa, who along with his wife owns at least $10 (m) million in assets and could be worth as much as $35 (m) million dollars, most of it in real estate.

Republican Senator Jeff Sessions of Mobile also is a millionaire but is worth far less than his elder colleague. According to his report, Sessions and his family had assets worth at least $1 (m) million and possibly more than $3 (m) million dollars.

Other congressional millionaires: Republican Congressmen Jo Bonner of Mobile; Terry Everett of Rehobeth and Mike Rogers of Saks.

Republican Congressman Robert Aderholt of Haleyville and Spencer Bachus of Vestavia Hills; and Democrat Bud Cramer of Huntsville, all held substantial wealth in real estate and other investments but didn't necessarily make it into the millionaire ranks.

Reporting the least wealth among Alabama congressmen was Birmingham Democrat Artur Davis. The 1993 Harvard Law School graduate reported no assets and at least $30,000 in student loans.
