House Refuses to Honor Pulitzer-Winning Reporter
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - The Alabama House has balked at passing a resolution that would have praised Birmingham News reporter Brett Blackledge.

Blackledge won a Pulitzer Prize for investigative stories that exposed corruption in the state's two-year college system.

The stories included details on legislators who work for community colleges or have contracts with the system.

Representative Jack Williams of Vestavia Hills sponsored the resolution praising Blackledge and moved to bring it up for a vote Tuesday. But the House voted 49 to 20 to table the resolution and several lawmakers criticized Blackledge's reporting.

Blackledge said later Tuesday that he did not seek any kind of praise from the Legislature.
