Guiliani Talks Votes and Football
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani appealed for Republican votes and campaign donations in Alabama Wednesday morning using the state's universal language - football.

Speaking at the Bryant Conference Center on the University of Alabama campus, Giuliani told Tuscaloosa County Republicans that the best defense against terrorists is a good offense.

Rick Mitchell, a supporter, said it's hard not to like Giuliani because of his performance during the September 11th terror attacks. But he said Alabama voters might not be ready to accept his support of abortion rights and a personal history that includes two failed marriages.

Giuliani will also make a stop in Huntsville this afternoon. He will attend a one-thousand dollar-a-plate fundraiser and tour the Army's Redstone Arsenal. Wednesday night's schedule includes a visit to a Birmingham seafood restaurant and Guiliani will attend a 12-hundred dollar-a-person fundraiser at a Mountain Brook home.
