Alabama has added another city to its ranks ... but it's not exactly a new city. For the first time since the Civil War, Cusseta in Chambers County is officially a city, after first being incorporated in 1853. The reinstatement became possible after county officials convinced the community to de-annex 400 acres of land for an industrial park. Kent Lauderdale, an attorney, was named Cusseta's mayor and will lead the five-member town council. Cusseta will hold its first council meeting next Monday night (4/30). © Copyright 2021, APR - Alabama Public Radio
