Former Commerce Director Given Suspended Sentence
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - Former Greenville Chamber of Commerce president Carol Lee has been given a suspended prison sentence and probation for stealing more than $8,000. Most of the money was community donations to help high school seniors go to college.

Butler County Circuit Judge Edward McFerrin Friday suspended her 32-month prison sentence, but ordered Lee to serve two years of supervised probation.

Lee pleaded guilty. She could have been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.

The judge also ordered her to pay a $500 fine and court costs. She repaid the stolen money not long after the theft was detected.
