Cold Weather Moves Into Alabama
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - Keep those jackets and sweaters handy. A two-week long warm spell has ended.

According to National Weather Service meteorologists, a freeze watch is in effect for Thursday night and will extend into the weekend for counties in east central, central and northeast Alabama.

National Weather Service meteorologists say the cold front will bring strong wind gusts.

Cooler temperatures are in today's forecast with highs ranging in the lower 50s north to 70s in southern counties. Overnight lows could dip into the 20s and 30's statewide.

The recent string of warm weather has coaxed some plants into early bloom. Forecasters say the nighttime cold could damage sensitive plants and tender vegetation.
