Ala. Congressmen Toe Party Line on Iraq

(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - Alabama's seven member delegation voted along party lines as the House voted to require President Bush to bring combat troops from Iraq next year.

Democrats Bud Cramer and Artur Davis sided the majority. Republicans Terry Everett, Spencer Bachus, Robert Aderholt, Jo Bonner and Mike Rogers voted against the measure.

The final tally was 218-to-212.

The 124 (b) billion-dollar war spending bill that would require combat operations to cease before next September -- or earlier if the Iraqi government does not meet certain requirements.

The measure is unlikely to get through the Senate unchanged.

The president has vowed to veto the bill.
