Time Changes This Weekend
(2007-03-09)
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - Daylight-saving time arrives this weekend. And this year it comes earlier than it has been.

Legislation approved by Congress moves it up to from the first Sunday in April to the second Sunday in March. And it will last longer, too, continuing past Halloween to November Fourth. The extra daylight in the evening is intended as a way to save energy.

But the early time switch is also creating some problems. Most devices like computers that have built-in clocks are pre-programmed to make the change in April.

A common fix is just to reprogram the machines with the updated start and end dates for daylight-saving time. Many technology providers have released downloadable software patches that do that.

The switch happens Sunday morning at 2.
