State Observes Severe Weather Awareness Week
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - Forecasters at the National Weather Service says its time for Alabamians to review their safety plans for severe weather in preparation for the spring tornado season that runs from March through May.

This is Severe Weather Awareness Week. Meteorologists say while forecasters continue to improve their severe weather warnings there may be only minutes for people to move to a safe place.

Alabamians are urged to purchase a weather radio that will issue an alarm when severe weather threatens.

Each day will be used to focus education on various aspect of severe weather -- including lightning, today's tornado awareness day, and tomorrow's (Thursday) focus on flooding and flash floods.
