Autauga County Opposes Nearly Nude Dancing
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - The Autauga County Commission could ask the Alabama Legislature to approve a law making it more difficult for businesses to offer entertainment featuring nearly nude dancers. The proposed legislation also would target adult book and novelty stores. Commissioner Michael Morgan is expected to present the proposal at Tuesday night's commission meeting. State Representative Mac Gipson, a Republican, says he will sponsor the bill in Montgomery. Nearly nude dancing isn't against the law in Alabama as long as genitals and a woman's areolas are covered. However, it's illegal for customers to touch dancers. Autauga County residents have voiced mixed reactions. Some say more important issues are at hand, while others say community standards must be protected.
