Hard Feelings at Goodyear
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - Hard feelings remain among some Goodyear Tire and Rubber workers as they prepared to head back to work Tuesday following a three-month strike. Workers at 12 plants -- including one in Gadsden -- ended their strike last week by approving a three-year agreement that includes plans to close a tire plant in Tyler, Texas, after 2007 and creates a one (B) billion dollar health care fund for retirees. Dan Levin is a 43-year-old Goodyear worker in Wisconsin. He says before the strike, relations between workers and management at the plant where he works were good, but it will take a while to mend the wounds from the strike. Goodyear spokesman Ed Markey says the focus is on taking care of customers and beating the competition. Goodyear is based in Akron, Ohio.
