Study Shows Cost Still High For Ala. Court Races
(2011-10-27)
(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - The Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law reported that Alabama judicial candidates in 2009 and 2010 raised the second most money of any state in the country for the 2010 election.

A study by the center showed that Alabama judicial candidates raised $3.164 million. That was second to Pennsylvania, where candidates reported raising $5.424 million, according to the Brennan Center report.

The report shows Alabama maintaining its reputation for costly judicial races. The Brennan Center reported last year that the state's hotly contested races for Supreme Court seats were the most expensive in the country during the previous decade.

The study showed the Business Council of Alabama was the seventh biggest spender among private groups in judicial races in 2009 and 2010.
