Prosecutors To Seek Death Penalty In UAH Shootings
The Huntsville Times reports that Madison County District Attorney Rob Broussard has told the judge and attorneys in the case that the state will seek the death penalty.
The 46-year-old Harvard-trained biologist is charged with capital murder in the February 2010 shooting rampage at UAH that left three of her biology faculty colleagues dead. She also faces attempted murder charges in connection with the shootings of three other biology department employees.
Bishop was indicted in March and her attorneys have notified the court they intend to use a defense of not guilty by reason of insanity.
