Four in Sewer Bribery Case Ordered to Prison
An attorney for one of the men says U.S. District Judge Scott Coogler held a telephone conference on Thursday with attorneys representing Bobby Rast, Danny Rast, Pat Dougherty and Jack Swann about a federal appeals court's recent denial of appeals of their convictions.
Stephen Salter, an attorney for Dougherty, says Coogler indicated he would file orders for the Rasts and Dougherty to report to prison in 30 days.
All three are contractors convicted of bribing county officials for work on the $3.2 billion construction project to repair Jefferson County's sewer system. Swann, the county's former environmental services director, still must be resentenced. © Copyright 2013, APR - Alabama Public Radio
