Amid current tensions, the two Koreas are marking the 60th anniversary of the day they went to war.

The communist government in the North is marking the anniversary with a rally in the capital, Pyongyang. The country's official news agency puts the crowd at 120,000, saying the people marched through the streets shouting their "hatred and wrath at the U.S. imperialists."

The secretary of the Workers' Party central committee told the crowd that the government would "continue to strengthen nuclear deterence" to protect the country's dignity and autonomy.

Meanwhile in Seoul, South Korean President Lee Myung-bak presented plaques of appreciation to countries that sent soldiers or supplies to aid the war effort. In a speech, Lee called on North Korea to "clearly and frankly admit and apologize for" the March sinking of a South Korean warship in which 46 sailors died, an act he referred to as a provocation.
