Governor Riley interview - Tri-State Water Dispute

(APR - Alabama Public Radio ) - The water sharing dispute between Alabama, Georgia and Florida took a dramatic turn recently. The US Supreme Court let stand a ruling that placed new limits on withdrawals from Lake Lanier, which is used to support water use in Atlanta. The more water Georgia uses from that federal reservoir, the less water flows downstream to support interests in Alabama and Florida. Alabama Public Radio's Brett Tannehill spoke with Governor Bob Riley about what that could mean for the future of the long-running dispute ...


... Alabama and Florida are currently asking the courts to invalidate operations of the Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Lanier, which could further restrict how Georgia uses water in that federal reservoir.
