Duo Rodinia Guest Artist Percussion and Clarinet Concert at Laidlaw February 17
Duo Rodinia will appear as guest performers in concert at the University of South Alabama Laidlaw Recital Hall on Monday, February 17 at 7:30 p.m. Duo Rodinia was founded in 2012 and consists of composer and percussionist, Jamie Whitmarsh and clarinetist, Lisa Kachouee. The mission of the ensemble is to promote, create, and commission contemporary works that speak to all audiences.
The ensemble performs works for clarinet and marimba, clarinet or bass clarinet with vibraphone, clarinet and mixed percussion, clarinet or bass clarinet with percussion and electronics, and adapts duos for other instruments to include steel pan. Despite only consisting of two musicians, Duo Rodinia is able to create a vast array of timbres and perform in a variety of styles. Duo Rodina brings full duo recitals, solo works, and masterclasses in clarinet, percussion, or composition to universities and communities throughout the United States. The ensemble has performed at Oklahoma City University, University of Central Oklahoma, East Central University, and Florida State University. In the spring of 2014 the ensemble will perform at the University of South Alabama and Jacksonville University. Duo Rodinia has commissioned composers Joshua William Mills, Joshua Burel, Roderick Gorby, and Al Kovach to write works for the spring 2014 season tours. Jamie Whitmarsh will also be writing a new work for the program.
