Battle of the Blues Bands will be held at the historic Bama Theatre in downtown Tuscaloosa. Adult prizes include an invitation to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN, a professional photo schoot, and $500 cash. Youth prizes incluse a set at the 2014 ABP Blues Extravaganza, website design, and a CD EP.
Blues is the roots of all music, and Alabama is full of musicians. The Alabama Blues Project will connect them in a competition for their first-ever Battle of the Blues Bands. Proceeds from registration and ticket sales will benefit the ABP’s award-winning after-school and summer Blues Camps.
The event will take place on October 12, 2013 at the historic Bama Theatre in downtown Tuscaloosa. Battle of the Blues Bands is not limited to strictly Blues bands, but musicians are to play any style of Blues in the competition. Each act will perform for a minimum of eight minutes, but no more than 20 minutes. Talent will be divided into two groups: Adult (21 and up) and Youth (under 21).
Bands will be judged in three different areas of concentration: Blues, Showmanship and Talent. Adult prizes include an invitation to the prestigious International Blues Challenge in Memphis, a professional photo shoot and $500 cash. Youth prizes include a set at the 2014 ABP Blues Extravaganza, website design and a CD EP recording. A band is NOT limited to just one prize.
