PRI's The World - Geo Quiz Podcast 439
Another Wall, Yet to Fall The Berlin Wall fell twenty years ago. But that's NOT the barrier we're looking for in today's Geo Quiz. Don't get too hung up looking for one physical structure. We're looking for another type of barrier. It divides a peninsula, keeping some people out. And others in. It's far from the safest place in the world to visit. The zone we're looking for is thought to be the most heavily militarized border in the world. It pre-dates the Berlin Wall, which started to go up in 1961. The answer to today's Quiz was formally created in 1953. And unlike the Wall, it's still there, as impassable as ever. Though some things do flourish there... According to some scientists, this massive barrier has been good for wildlife -- including a rare species of tiger.
