(2010-01-20)
(wskg) - Later this morning, the Binghamton City School District, specifically six elementary schools, will receive a Gold Award for Excellence in Promoting Good Nutrition and Physical Fitness... it's part of the Healthier US School Challenge, a program of the US Department of Agriculture. The award will be presented by Dr. Janey Thornton, Deputy undersecretary of the Department of Agriculture. WSKG's Gregory Keeler spoke with Dr. Thornton and with Ray Denniston, the Special Projects Coordinator for Food Services for Broome-Tioga BOCES. Click above to listen to the unedited interview. An edited version (for time) was broadcast on WSKG Radio Wednesday, 1/20/10, at 6:35 and 7:35 AM during WSKG Radio's broadcast of NPR's Morning Edition.
