Readers' Theatre of Ithaca presents Sam Shepard's True West
Readers' Theatre of Ithaca presents Sam Shepard's <i>True West</i>
Online interview audio now available Ruby Max Fury and Gary Weissbrot speak with WSKG's Bill Snyder This American classic explores alternatives that might spring from the demented terrain of the California landscape. Sons of a desert dwelling alcoholic and a suburban wanderer clash over a film script. Austin, the achiever, is working on a script he has sold to producer Saul Kimmer when Lee, a demented petty thief, drops in. He pitches his own idea for a movie to Kimmer, who then wants Austin to junk his bleak, modern love story and write Lee's trashy Western tale. Ruby Max Fury plays Lee, Gary Weissbrot plays Austin, Leigh Keeley plays their Mom, Brett Bossard is Saul, and stage directions will be read by Bob Proehl. Directed by Anne Marie Cummings.

The Readers' Theatre will perform at Buffalo Street Books in Ithaca, New York. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8:30pm, and Sundays performance begins at 6:30pm. All tickets are $8. The address is 215 North Cayuga Street (enter on Buffalo between Cayuga and Tioga Streets).
