Artists portraying other artists—it's a rich tradition in history, from Van Gogh painting Gauguin to Picasso paying homage to Degas.
The tradition will continue when the Windsor Whip Works Arts Center presents "Artists Painting Artists"—its premiere show of 2011--coming in January.
The show will include works from about two dozen local artists who chose other artists as their subjects. In the exhibit are mostly paintings along with some sculpture done by artists of their fellow artists. Artists Painting Artists is a juried show that will also be accompanied by a 24-page color catalog—a first for a Windsor Whip Works Art Center (WWWAC) exhibit.
