This weekend Montrose residents will welcome two distinguished pianists, Antony Peebles and Dr. Ruth Ann Galatas, guests of John and Karen Farmer of Elk Lake, and London.

The pianists will perform in the 'World Class Classics,' a summer musical extravaganza concert at 4 p.m., Sunday, June 29, at Montrose Area High School.

Dr. Galatas will present the World Premiere performance of 'Fantasie on Ruddigore,' written especially for her.

Both pianists will play Listz's four-handed arrangement of the 2nd Hungarian Rhapsody and Antony Peebles will perform Chopin's Ballade No. 4 in F minor.

Virginia Wilmarth will play the first American performance of 'The Rabbit,' written by A. Tindal. This short piece was written when the composer was 12. Also performing is Johanna Reed on the horn, Lee Caterson on the trombone - playing his original composition, and Thomas Follert, bass/baritone, singing 'In Summer Fields,' by Brahms.

Todd Robinson, bass/baritone, rounds out the event singing two arias from his repertoire, 'LaCalunia,' from the 'Barber of Seville,' and Gremin's 'Aria,' from 'Eugene Onegin.'

Concert tickets are available at The Butler's Pantry, The Montrose Country Store and The Butternut Gallery, all in Montrose; at Robinson's Market, South Montrose, and at the door.

The audience is invited to a reception to meet the musicians after the concert, at the newly renovated Community Foundation building, 36 Lake Ave., Montrose.
