Join us for a concert of new music, including the world premiere of Toccata by Andrew Mead, professor of theory at the University of Michigan, performed by guest pianist Wendy Wan-Ki Lee. Faculty performers Margaret Reitz, pianist, and Stephen Stalker, cellist, will perform Paul Goldstaub's Lago di Como, Italia. Student performers Stephanie Lehman, Marc Silvagni and Caleb DeGroote will perform Six Slick Stix Click Licks by Dr. Goldstaub. The program will also include pieces by Anton von Webern. Student violinist Akira Maezawa will join faculty pianist Ewa Mackiewicz-Wolfe to perform the Sonata for Violin and Piano composed by John Corigliano. This event is sponsored by the Binghamton University Department of Music.
At 11 a.m. on Monday, February 25 th , in Fine Arts 21 , Dr. Mead will meet with student composers and offer critiques of their work. Finally, at 12 noon in Fine Arts 21 , he will present a class titled "A Composer's Perspective on Music Theory", focusing on important aspects of 20th century concert music.
Tickets are $9 for the general public, $7 for faculty, staff, and seniors, and $1for students.
